The independent Reserach Team is part of the Pingry Research Program.

Student team leaders are using Molecular Biology Techniques to research current diseases and design teaching labs for other students.

A Quick iRT Explanation

The students conduct novel research that is generated by students, teachers, and scientists.  Students are divided into groups and each are assigned to a project.  Each group meets with me once a week to collectively assign deadlines and goals.  Each group is divided into three groups of students.  The top tier, lab heads, are generally juniors or seniors with a good deal bench experience.  They are responsible for making sure that the group meets their deadlines and teaching the second tier students, the lab techs, all necessary protocols and methods.  The third tier students, lab techs, watch what the other tiers do, take notes, participate in the planning meetings, and most importantly present the work of the group.
